Dentures
Dentures are removable dental appliances that are used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They are made of acrylic resin or porcelain and are custom-made to fit the individual’s mouth. Dentures are used when a person has lost some or all of their teeth due to tooth decay, gum disease, or injury.
There are two main types of dentures: complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth still remain.
The process of getting dentures typically involves several appointments with a dentist or prosthodontist. During the first appointment, the dentist will take measurements and impressions of the patient’s mouth to create a mold. This mold is then sent to a dental laboratory, where the dentures are created. The patient will then return for subsequent appointments to try on the dentures and make any necessary adjustments.
